Ocean Art — A New Field of Creation in the XXI Contemporary Art Market

Ocean Art — A New Field of Creation in the XXI Contemporary Art Market

The World’s Only Course Dedicated to Ocean Art
Enter a space where the sea becomes a studio, and art comes alive.

Course Overview: This online course introduces Ocean Art as an emerging genre of environmental art that uses the ocean as its site, medium, and inspiration, distinct from traditional marine art or “Oceanic art” in the anthropological sense.

Over ~60–90 minutes of content (depending on student pace), learners will explore what Ocean Art is (and isn’t), its roots in Land Art, and how the Ocean Art Movement is shaping creative practice today. The course blends video lectures, downloadable readings, and interactive quizzes to create a professional, immersive learning experience. It targets a broad cultural audience – from artists and curators to collectors and curious ocean lovers – and aligns with the principles of the Ocean Art Movement (including emerging Ocean Art certification standards emphasizing sustainability and ethics).

By the end, participants will understand core concepts and be equipped to position their own practice or support Ocean Art in line with contemporary best practices.
